About Dr. Ebun Joseph
Dr. Ebun Joseph is a leading voice in antiracism, racial equality, and diversity consulting in Ireland. With over 15 years of experience working with minority groups and extensive academic research at the PhD level, she brings a unique combination of theoretical insight and practical expertise to her work.
Professional Journey
Dr. Joseph's journey began with a degree in Microbiology from the University of Benin, Nigeria. She then pursued professional counselling (IACP accredited) before specializing in adult guidance and counselling at Maynooth University. Her academic path led to a PhD from UCD's School of Social Justice, Equality Studies, where she researched racial stratification in the Irish labour market.
Leadership & Impact
As the Founder and Director of the Institute of Antiracism and Black Studies (IABS), Dr. Joseph has created Ireland's first Black Studies module at University College Dublin. She serves as the Special Rapporteur on Racial Equality and Racism in Ireland, providing expert guidance on policy and practice.
Research & Publications
Dr. Joseph is the author of critically acclaimed works including "Critical race theory and inequality in the labour market: Racial stratification in Ireland," "Becoming Unforgettable," and the novel "Trapped; Prison Without Walls." Her research focuses on labour market experiences of migrants and antiracism education.
Community Engagement
Beyond her professional work, Dr. Joseph is deeply involved in community initiatives. She serves as CEO and seminar speaker for The Unforgettable Women's Network, chairs the African Scholars Association Ireland (AfSAI), and convenes webinars on race and equality issues.
